Course Zooms in on Challenges, Trends of Global Construction

Glodon Malaysia has co-organized a Product Talk with PUJA Brunei on the 13th of August. Participants from the professionals in Brunei, such as QSs, Contractors, and personnel from Government ministries like JKR-MOD, MINDEF, MORA, etc. has attended this event. "THE Continuous Professional Development (CPD) course was held at the Atria Simpur Hall of the Public Works Department yesterday.

Over 75 Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei members, as well as personnel from the government and private sectors attended the course, which was split into three lectures by representatives sent by Glodon Software (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

The first lecture on ‘The Status Quo, Challenges and Trends on Global Construction Industry’ discussed the advancement of technology and the changes it brings to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

The talk focussed on exploring the values and possibilities of the re-engineered Building Information Modelling (BIM) Cost Management solution in the implementation of digital construction.

Glodon’s National Product Manager Myke Ong delivered the lecture. He has been in the construction, management and administration field for over eight years, and has delved into product research and development over the past four years.

The CPD course also featured a product demonstration and lecture by Cubicost Product Expert Amirul Izzat. With a Degree in Quantity Surveying from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from INTI International University, Amirul has notched eight years’ experience in the construction and oil and gas industries. He is a requirement analyst for the construction sector in Malaysia.

Amirul addressed the issue of digital transformation and emphasised the availability of digital data and connectivity as two of its key aspects. The lecture also elaborated on the enablement of integrated technology as a solution to facilitate the digitisation and seamless exchange of data through a collaborative platform.

The final talk was delivered by Glodon Software Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Product Expert and Senior Service Engineer Rajesh Sunkari.

Highlighting MEP system design as one of the crucial aspects in construction, he elaborated on the significance and use of BIM in overcoming MEP design challenges.

The course aimed to promote awareness on the values and usefulness of BIM and Integrated Technology in the construction industry.

The event concluded with a PUJA Vice-President cum Chairman of the Surveyor Division Nazhatulshima binti Haji Md Jamil presenting a token of appreciation to Glodon Malaysia’s Country representative Victor Lee."
