Jakarta – In recent years, Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) has been actively promoting the utilization of technology to enhance the effectiveness and capability of Indonesian construction industry under the concept of industry 4.0, which offers a breakthrough change in the nation’s construction industry towards a digitized future.
"Utilization of technology must provide added value to the implementation of infrastructure development, not just to join or follow momentary trends. Industry 4.0 is only an instrument, behind it must be a reliable Human Resources (HR) instead.” said Mr. Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing.
Mr. Trisasongko Widianto, the General Director of Construction Development (Direktorat Jenderal Bina Konstruksi), PUPR emphasized that it’s important to improve personnel capabilities in the Indonesian construction community by utilizing BIM technology. PUPR continues to hold Building Information Modeling (BIM) webinars and online training with strategic partners, who are engaged in information technology and construction. He further stated through Center for the Application of Construction Technology (Balai PTK), "Cultivating skilled construction workforce by using technology in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, especially construction design technology using BIM for the building construction."
