Jointly organized by the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia (BQSM) (Lembaga Juruukur Bahan Malaysia), the 23^rd Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) Congress held on 23^rd to 27^th August, 2019 at Pullman Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. With the theme of “Human Wisdom Amidst Emerging Technologies”, the congress attracted more than 500 participants from 14 countries to share their insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by the QS profession and the construction industry. As the only platinum sponsor, Glodon Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Glodon”) representatives gave two keynote speeches in the congress and organized two booths.

The Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) is an international association of national organizations representing Quantity Surveyors in the Asia and Western Pacific region. PAQS 2019 is a gathering of the elites in Quantity Surveying and Cost Engineering. There were many symposia, case sharing and research presentations on how to overcome the current and imminent challenges faced by the QS profession in particular, and the construction industry as a whole. The event is officiated by the honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak and Minister of Works, Malaysia also delivered a keynote address.  More than 500 participants from 14 countries has participated.

Dr. YUN Langsheng, the Senior Vice President and CTO of Glodon, gave a keynote speech on digital transformation of AEC industry and as the foundation of it, how digital building propels construction industry transformation at the main forum on the 26^th. Delegates from 14 different countries were impressed by his speech. According to Prof. Roger Flanagan from University of Reading, who is also one of the speakers at the main forum, Dr. YUN’s speech is intriguing and inspiring. Mr. Chew Siak Kor, the Human Resources Development Manager of Glodon, gave a keynote speech on surviving Industrial Resolution 4.0 and second business venture it brings.

After the main forum on the 26^th, YB Tuan Baru Bian, Minister of Public Works, YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak, Malaysia, Dato’Dr. Shelkh Muszaphar Shukor, Malaysia 1^st Astronaut, Sr Wan Ainon Zuraiha Khalid, CQS, FRISM, MRICS, Chair of PAQS 2019 Organising Committee, Sr Kwan Hock Hai, KMN, CQS, FRISM, FRICS, President of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia Session 2019/2020, YBhg. Prof. (Adjunct) Sr Dato’ Aziz Bin Abdullah, President of Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia, Sr Francis Leung, Chairman of Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors, and Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, Senior Independent Non-Executive Chairman had visited Glodon’s booth and engaged with Dr. YUN Langsheng, Senior Vice President of Glodon, Mr. LIU Qian, Senior Vice President of Glodon, and Mr. Victor Lee, General Manager of Glodon Malaysia on Glodon's products, solutions, visions and concepts.

Through such an international conference, Glodon, as a representative of China's construction software industry, discussed the value of information and data with international elites, spoke for the China's engineering cost consulting industry. The domestic AEC industry has been strengthened in line with international practices. New advanced technologies and innovative ideas of the AEC industry have been more deeply understood, and the development direction of future engineering based on advanced technology has been jointly discussed.
